Holiday Heroes was a new program organized by the City of Ankeny that brought representatives of the Ankeny Police and Fire Departments into City parks to hand out candy canes and hot cocoa to residents. The campaign was designed to endear feels of good will toward emergency personelle and help foster relationships with residents.
The cartoonish, stylized Santa was deliberate both in terms of eye-catching, bright simplicity but also to establish thematically that Holiday Heroes was a family event.
